Lagus Custom Knife Pair
  • Size (each): Length overall: 7.75" (19.7 cm), Blade Length: 4.0" (10.2 cm), Thickness: .185" (4.7 mm)
  • Weight (each): Knife: 6.0 oz. (170 grams) Sheath: 3.5 oz. (99 grams)
  • Blade: ATS-34 High Molybdenum Martensitic Stainless Tool Steel, Hardened and Tempered to Rockwell C58
  • Bolsters, Fittings: 304 Austenitic Stainless Steel
  • Handle: Mahogany Obsidian Gemstone
  • Sheath: Hand-stitched 9-10 oz. Leather
  • Knife: A great pair of small custom knives, the Lagus design takes it's name from ancient Greek: the father of Ptolemy. The knives are light and thinly ground for tremendous sharpness, and being made of ATS-34 allows some of the greatest toughness at these thin areas, due to the high molybdenum content in the alloy. The blades have beautiful mirror polished hollow grinds, which leave good thickness at the spines for strength. The tips of the blades are extremely thin and sharp, for great fine scalpel-like cutting.  the blades are clean with no filework and the fully tapered tangs are smooth and comfortable. The bolsters are zero-care high nickel, high chromium austenitic 304 stainless steel for longevity and beauty, and they are dovetailed to bed pairs of Mahogany Obsidian gemstone handle scales. This obsidian is smooth and glassy, with plenty of mahogany color in black, with a few tiny white inclusions of quartz. The shape and contour of the handle is inviting and easy to hold, with good forefinger shape to protect the hand from the single bevel cutting edge.
  • Sheath: The sheaths the client requested are clean, simple and straightforward, with no tooling or inlays. They are made of 9 - 10 oz. leather shoulder, dyed a mahogany color to match the handles, stitched with polyester sinew, lacquered and sealed.
  • A great well-matched pair of knives!

Thanks, D. D.!

Jay,
As I always knew from speaking and email correspondences, the knives are absolutely beautiful, and I'm very happy with them! As I mentioned early on, these blades will see actual field use; I'm sure it will be as impressive as well. ...I'll be in contact with you about a new project soon!
Thanks Jay.

D.
