The Kid Tactical, CSAR, Hook Blade Knife

The Kid was originally designed as a SERE (Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape) Instructor's knife, with direct input from the SERE professional and is also useful as a hunting tool. This particular model has a double-edged hollow ground blade with a good length of serrations on the top edge for tough ripping needs, and an aggressive point with plenty of spine strength. The steel is high chromium, high carbon 440C for the greatest corrosion resistance, and is mirror polished throughout. The knife is bolstered with 304 high nickel, high chromium austenitic stainless steel bolsters, mounted with 18-8 stainless steel machine screws. They are dovetailed and frame a pair of hard, tough, and polished black Petrified Palm Wood gemstone handle scales, with milky and clear areas of agate and crystal. The most unique feature of this knife is the handle mounted hook blade. The handle is only about 3 1/2 inches long, (9 cm), but houses a specialized hook blade that operates on a tongue and groove assembly, locking open and locking closed. The hook blade is blunt on the point, and razor keen in the concave grind, and was originally designed for CSAR operations. The hook blade can be extended and used for several tasks like removing a wetsuit from an injured victim without penetrating the skin and severing cord or line in wet environments with one hand. It can also be used in traditional gut hook form for hunting and game dressing chores. All the internal components are stainless steel including the hardened lock bar and the spring. The sheath for this knife is one of my positively locking stainless steel, kydex, and high strength corrosion resistant aluminum models. This is a great working tool for CSAR and utility operations.

Thanks, P.K.!

Hello Jay,
I was stunned by the quality of the knife. I showed the knife to several co-workers who were also extremely impressed. The hook, I was informed, should be used for opening a deer or large fish up.
Your web site cannot show the quality or feel that your knives have. Thank you for finishing the knife and getting it to me on time. It will make the trip with me!

Yours truly,
P. K.
